First Year of Academy of Health Professions is a success!

The first year of Academy of Health Professions had a successful start. The 37 students who enrolled for 2013-2014 school year found the curriculum to be challenging yet fun. The students spent the year learning about many different health care providers, became proficient in medical terminology, infection control practices and vital signs as well as completed a variety of project based learning activities, including dissecting brains, eyes and rats. The curriculum included trips to BWMC, Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Genesis Severna Park Center, Brightview Assisted Living, and Yalich Center. Upon completion of this first year, the students took a proficiency exam administered by Anne Arundel Community College to earn 3 credits in Medical Terminology from the college.
