 Environmental Resource Management

Level One and Two ERM students went on a joint field trip to Arlington Echo.

1020141244

Led, by Mr. Will Williams, they explored the headwaters of the Severn River by canoe, stopping to take temperature and dissolved oxygen readings along the way . This trip enabled them to better understand the ecology of the Severn River by getting a first hand view of the headwaters and the land that it flows through. In class they will study these headwaters  by using GIS and gathering data during future field work.

 CAT- North Celebrates Veterans Day

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War. Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

CAT-North honors the veterans on our staff:

Sergeant Peter Akerboom, US Marine Corps

Chief Petty Officer Shawn Day, USNR

Specialist 4 Marlon Dailey, US Army

CMI Jake Kepich, US Navy Seabee

Senior Chief James Rhea, US Navy

E5 Joseph Zamostny, US Navy

CATN Students visit AACC

Sixty CATN students visited Anne Arundel Community College on February 27th for informational session on mechatronics, engineering, and entrepreneurship programs.

In the Mechatronics Technology session, students learned  that mechatronics is based on the study of electrical, mechanical, and computer software and how those technologies work together in order to improve and produce a process and/or product. They had the opportunity to work in a hands-on environment as they built different robot models.

Students also learned about the Ratcliffe Scholars program provides scholarships, mentoring and networking opportunities to entrepreneurs and future entrepreneurs furthering their education at AACC.

 Cisco Field Trip

DSC04299

The field trip to Cisco Systems, Herndon, VA provided our students with the opportunity to meet Cisco Systems Engineers, discuss new technologies that Cisco provides and tour the service provider lab and data center. This experience helps our students to connect what they are learning with real world experiences and also gives them the opportunity to  learn from engineers who are working in the field. It was an exciting experience for the students!
